Embossed Leather Black

A staple of Marine Serre Couture, this premium sheepskin leather is made in Italy and has a satin sheen that naturally gives off light, as though it has already acquired a delicate patina over time. The grained, structured leather is then heat-embossed to reveal the house’s Moonogram print. The pieces in this range draw inspiration from classic tailoring codes, which merge seamlessly with Marine Serre’s resolutely contemporary vision: women’s styles, from fitted coats and jackets, to a glamorous bustier dress, are fitted to follow the curves of the body. The men’s pieces are modern and luxurious wardrobe staples.

All the cotton Marine Serre sources for Borderline is GOTS-certified — this world-leading textile processing standard chiming with the house’s own well-known commitment to protecting the planet. In terms of the silhouettes across these ranges, we wanted to offer a wide range of everyday styles that are directly inspired by the world of sportswear. Our Moon Logo Jersey lines come in a range of traditional colours (white, black and grey, but in most cases lilac too) spun out across t-shirts, tanks and dresses, as well as underwear. These garments are finished in the classic way familiar from sportwear garments, with our Moon Logo in raised embroidery just below the neckline. Some of the Recycled Cotton Jerseys (lilac and grey) feature our MS Sport logo — a print moon with Marine Serre embroidered above, and we have also expanded our palette with seasonal colours such as red and blue, bearing a Gradient All Over Moon print.

Graphic-print sweatshirts adopt the same codes and the same ironic attitude as their t-shirt counterparts. Although just as present in our day-to-day lives, it was only last season that we upcycled them for the first time — an innovation which wasn’t easy to pull off, as high-quality sweatshirts are harder to track down. Garments are sourced in classic black, all the better to make the graphics pop, before being deconstructed and recomposed in a mosaic design that highlights each individual print while setting them in new constellations. In keeping with the desire to honour the garments’ origins, we have chosen to launch this new range with classic American staples: a hoodie, sweatpants and drawstring shorts, with a cropped sweatshirt for women. Sweatshirts have not been overdyed for ecological reasons so extra care was required to get the right shades during sourcing. The MS Regenerated logo is prominently stamped on each garment. Due to the artisanal nature of the regeneration process, each piece is unique.

This extraordinary fabric is part of the core materials of the House. The forgotten techniques of the  upcycled embroidered household linen are saved from oblivion and regenerated into unique, transcending garments evoking soft, delicate and sensual imagery. All these one-of-a-kind pieces are filled with history through their embroideries, all smoothly placed to highlight the beauty of this rare fabric. The white tones of the pillowcases are also dyed in black to play with the ceremonial references.

Moon Checks Jacquard is an RWS-certified wool jacquard that is woven in Italy and features a fusion of the Marine Serre Moon and a check pattern in neutral earth tones. Italian tailoring has strongly permeated the new collection, which has been constructed as an ode to the country’s savoir-faire. After conducting extensive research into potential new tailoring materials — always with the challenge of sourcing dormant fabrics suitable for generation — we settled upon rolls of red and grey fabric, the basis of the Regenerated Tailoring range.

Ms Sport Nylon Black

This sporty fabric is a fixture for Marine Serre. The material is composed of a mixture of GRS-certified recycled nylon and cotton which is made in Italy. Water-repellent and soft to the touch, it has a washed texture as if it has taken on natural creasing with wear — a subtle detail that nonetheless elevates it to the rank of high-end sportswear. The unisex pieces in this range are intended for everyday casual wear. The track jacket, already a new icon for the house, has been carried over from last season, while the baggy track pants have morphed into a more dramatic balloon shape; both these pieces feature the MS Sport logo embroidered in white thread. The raincoat, which also features the MS Sport logo on the rear, has practical details like an adjustable hood and adjustable cuffs. The women’s range borrows technical details from hiking gear and is a stylish hybrid of couture and sportswear. The bustier, for instance, has elastic cord and adjustable cord stoppers at the bust so wearers can adjust the fabric to suit their chest size.
