This house is proud to claim its circular approach also applies to fabrics it creates itself, and this can lead to prints and fabrics that were initially meant for an older collection to be regenerated for the current collection. This season's strong focus on tailored menswear and dressed up sets, made it the perfect occasion to bring back our exclusive cotton jacquard poplin to create a classic and elegant menswear shirt. This poplin features a jacquard of the house's logo as well as our iconic Moon.

Graphic-print sweatshirts adopt the same codes and the same ironic attitude as their t-shirt counterparts. Although just as present in our day-to-day lives, it was only last season that we upcycled them for the first time — an innovation which wasn’t easy to pull off, as high-quality sweatshirts are harder to track down. Garments are sourced in classic black, all the better to make the graphics pop, before being deconstructed and recomposed in a mosaic design that highlights each individual print while setting them in new constellations. In keeping with the desire to honour the garments’ origins, we have chosen to launch this new range with classic American staples: a hoodie, sweatpants and drawstring shorts, with a cropped sweatshirt for women. Sweatshirts have not been overdyed for ecological reasons so extra care was required to get the right shades during sourcing. The MS Regenerated logo is prominently stamped on each garment. Due to the artisanal nature of the regeneration process, each piece is unique.

Marine Serre first showed upcycled tote bags in the 
F/W 2023 Collection Rising Shelter, which made 
waves with its column-shaped cages of discarded 
clothing. Inspired by the designer’s optimism despite 
rapid climate change, this range begins life with the 
careful selection of cotton totes according to their 
quality and the appeal of their multicultural patterns. 
Reimagined as Marine Serre Couture pieces, their 
sui generis graphics leap out from the ecru fabric, 
tapping into the longing for travel that underpins 
the entire collection, as each carries different places 
and stories within it. Unisex garments are inflected 
by streetwear styles. There’s a bomber jacket with a 
generous volume, alongside wide workwear pants, 
button-up and bowling shirts, and tailored shorts. A 
standout trench features the tote’s handles hanging 
down its back. For women, the bustier present in 
the Regenerated Denim range introduces a pleasing 
clash between the material and the sensual bodycon design. Pieces feature a printed Marine Serre 
logo and, owing to the upcycling approach, each is 
one of a kind.

This extraordinary fabric is part of the core materials of the House. The forgotten techniques of the  upcycled embroidered household linen are saved from oblivion and regenerated into unique, transcending garments evoking soft, delicate and sensual imagery. All these one-of-a-kind pieces are filled with history through their embroideries, all smoothly placed to highlight the beauty of this rare fabric. The white tones of the pillowcases are also dyed in black to play with the ceremonial references.

Iconic All Over Moon motif adorns this blended FSC-approved viscose and wool yarn jacquard knit. The shapes present in this family run in parallel to those in the wider Moon Logo range and serve to accentuate the collection’s idea of translation and metamorphosis, almost as if our iconic Recycled Moon Jersey magically transformed into knitwear. The line has a strong sportswear dynamic with the addition of thumbholes in some of the pieces. This wool blend jacquard knit is slightly warmer and thicker than the Moon Logo Knit, however, but also so incredibly soft that it can also be worn directly on the skin.

New for this season, Moon Checks Jacquard is an RWS-certified wool jacquard that is woven in Italy and features a fusion of the Marine Serre Moon and a check pattern in neutral earth tones. Italian tailoring has strongly permeated the new collection, which has been constructed as an ode to the country’s savoir-faire. After conducting extensive research into potential new tailoring materials — always with the challenge of sourcing dormant fabrics suitable for generation — we settled upon rolls of red and grey fabric, the basis of the Regenerated Tailoring range. For men, a fitted double-breasted jacket designed for formal occasions is joined by an elongated jacket with exaggerated shoulders that’s versatile enough to appeal to women too. Women’s garments include a coat and jacket whose discreet shoulders, simple button closure and generously open neckline recall the Moon Airbrushed leather suit jacket. Sensual, lighter pieces include a strapless dress cinched above the bust by a removeable leather belt, and a pleated mini skirt. Pair it with one of the collection’s knits for a collegiate look.
