Sustainability is at the core of Marine Serre. Our vision is to challenge and inspire the fashion industry by crafting unique collections that give birth to new standards and put environmental responsibility first.
We believe in creating clothing that is not only innovative and forward-thinking but also minimizes harm to the planet and its people.
The Regenerated Rule
Marine Serre collections are all about rethinking our collective futures. This requires creating a new fashion system within which new supply chains, new ways to consume, to communicate and to experience are possible.
Our upcycling process consists of using end-of-life materials or finished garments, and deadstock fabrics as an adaptable base for creating new products, as well as the development of fabrics from recycled fibers and yarns.
Through our modus operandi we actively embody an honest way to live, to act and to get inspired. Upcycled and certified materials are at the center the design process at Marine Serre. 50% of our Fall-Winter 2025 show is composed of ‘upcycled’ products. The other 50% sees us working with certified and recycled fibers.
The craftsmanship and quality of each piece encourage longevity, fostering timeless garments that are cherished rather than discarded. With full control over production, we can experiment with responsible materials, rework designs when needed, and ensure every creation reflects both artistry and sustainability.

Materials

Upcycled materials
Each upcycled garment has a label that specifies the material used, its origins and the location of its transformation. The materials are sourced in Europe, are carefully sorted, washed and treated at our Headquarters in Paris, before being sent to manufacturing partners in Europe who produce the seasonal collections. This process makes each item produced unique in its shades or prints, depending on the material upcycled.

Deadstock materials
Deadstock materials, in majority from Italy, are surplus fabrics left over from fashion houses, textile mills, or manufacturers that would otherwise go unused and often end up in landfills. By sourcing and repurposing these existing textiles, we give them a second life, reducing the need for new production and the environmental impact associated with creating fresh fabrics. Working with deadstock is a sustainable practice because it minimizes waste, lowers demand for resource-intensive processes like water and energy consumption, and transforms overlooked materials into unique, high-quality pieces with a story to tell.

Certified materials
For developing our first-use textiles, sourcing follows a strict environmental criteria every season. Through constant supplier and technical research, we select fabrics with the least impact on our environment and the most traceability across the supply chain.

Processes
Sourcing and Production
Our sourcing strategy is rooted in ethical practices. We prioritize working with local and small-scale suppliers, ensuring that our materials are sustainably sourced and produced with respect for both the environment and workers' rights.
Each piece goes through a careful process where materials are chosen based on their sustainability. Our production is mainly based in Europe, ensuring shorter supply chains, reduced carbon footprints, and the highest labor standards.
Transparency and Traceability
We believe in transparency, offering our customers full insight into how and where their clothes are made. We track the journey of each material from sourcing to production, ensuring our commitment to ethical practices and environmental responsibility is clear at every stage.
Durability and Care
Sustainability is also about creating products that stand the test of time. Our pieces are designed to last, and we encourage customers to cherish them for years to come. To support this, we provide a comprehensive Care Guide to help you maintain your Marine Serre pieces, extending their life and reducing the need for frequent replacements.

MS Tribe
Behind every product, there is a dedicated team of people who share our passion for sustainability and creativity. From partnerships with local suppliers to our diverse and inclusive workplace, we believe in fostering a community that aligns with our values.
Our team
Our office reflects the world we want to create diverse, inclusive, and empowering. The majority of our Direction Committee members are women, and we have a multicultural staff that brings unique perspectives and creativity to everything we do. We believe that diversity is a strength, and our team embodies the global vision of Marine Serre.
Sustainable spaces
Sustainability also shapes our physical spaces. Our offices in Paris are decorated with upcycled décor such as silk curtains repurposed to create luxurious, eco-conscious environments, or second-hand furniture and objects with a hybrid twist, and minimum waste is at the core of our activities.
Lot zero
Each upcycled garment has a label that specifies the material used, its origins and the location of its transformation. The materials are carefully sorted, washed and treated at our Headquarters in Paris, in a warehouse we call Lot Zero before being sent to manufacturing partners in Europe who produce the seasonal collections.
Atelier
Our atelier allows us to create couture pieces, custom looks, and all the patterns for our collections in-house, which makes our process inherently more sustainable. By producing on demand, we avoid overproduction and reduce waste, while precise pattern-making ensures efficient fabric use.
Local sourcing partners
We pride ourselves on working with small, local producers, supporting independent suppliers and reducing our environmental impact by minimizing transportation emissions. This approach not only fosters local economies but also guarantees high-quality, responsibly sourced materials.
At Marine Serre, sustainability is more than a responsibility—it’s the way we shape the future. We invite you to join us on this journey, where fashion and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. Together, we can redefine what it means to create and wear fashion that respects the planet and its people.

The future
We know that sustainability is a journey, not a destination. That’s why we are constantly seeking ways to improve and set new goals for the future.
While we have made significant strides, we are always looking for ways to do more. Whether it's reducing our water consumption, further minimizing waste, or integrating new sustainable technologies, we are committed to evolving our practices to align with the highest sustainability standards and embark our partners in the journey.
